Before stepping into the author world, I was a high school language arts teacher, guiding students through Spanish, Chorus, English Literature, Young Adult Lit, and Creative Writing. My approach has always been the same: first, understand the audience. Who am I teaching? What do they need? What do they care about? Then, I build a session that’s tailored, dynamic, and interactive—with a balance of independent work, group sharing, and a session that flies by because everyone is engaged and comfortable.

Speaking & Workshop Topics

For Writers & Creative Communities:

📝 Mindset Workshop – “How to Get Over Self-Sabotage and Back into Writing” – presented at the Women in Publishing Summit, Romance Writers Association, and various retreats.

Is it “writer’s block” or self-sabotage? Writers think about their stories all the time, yet they fail to make progress for some reason, over and over again. In “How to Get Over Self-Sabotage and Back to Writing,” I lead writers of every level in a workshop-style class where they will identify self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors as they manifest in their writing lives. I teach the psychology behind why writers get stuck and how writers can get back into flow, making sustainable and consistent progress that creates momentum. It’s time for writers to stop feeling disappointed in their lack of action and proud of their productivity instead.

At the end of this presentation, writers will know:
1 – How to identify whether a thought or behavior is self-sabotaging
2 – How to break your self-sabotage cycle
3 – How to create momentum for your writing

📝 Creative Writing Workshop – A structured session with bite-sized lessons on what a book really needs to be complete, plus time to reflect, write, and share. A hit in Lakeview!

“Ania Ray’s workshop was a resounding success at our building’s craft night occasion.  Her teaching ability and facility in involving all present was evident as everyone really worked on their creative writing. There were several beginning writers who responded well to Anna’s kindness and encouragement, and she had everyone in the room listening attentively and following her suggestions and directions.  We were all so grateful for her coming and I would recommend her writing workshop wholeheartedly.
